Reface Your Cabinets If...
Your cabinet boxes are solid
Open your cabinet doors and look at the frames built into your walls. If the wood is firm, there’s no water damage, warping, or soft spots — your boxes have years of life left in them. Refacing makes perfect sense.
You're happy with your kitchen layout
Do your cabinets give you enough storage? Does the flow of your kitchen work for how you actually cook and live? If the answer is yes — and you just want it to look completely different — refacing delivers that transformation for a fraction of the cost.
You want results without the disruption
A full cabinet replacement means demolition, debris, and a kitchen that’s out of commission for weeks. Refacing means new doors, new drawer fronts, new hardware, and new veneers — installed efficiently, with far less mess and far less downtime.
You want to maximize your budget
Quality refacing typically costs 40 to 60 percent less than full cabinet replacement. If your goal is to make a kitchen that looks brand new without a brand new price tag, refacing is one of the smartest investments you can make in your home.
You're preparing to sell
Buyers notice kitchens. Updated cabinets dramatically improve first impressions and perceived value. If your boxes are sound, refacing gives you maximum visual impact for minimum investment — exactly what you want before listing.

Replace Your Cabinets If...
Your cabinet boxes are damaged
Water damage, warping, soft wood, or structural deterioration means the boxes themselves need to go. Refacing damaged boxes is like putting new siding on a house with a failing foundation. It won’t hold up — and it’s not something we’d recommend.
Your kitchen layout isn't working
If you need more storage, different cabinet placement, an island where there wasn’t one, or a fundamentally different flow — refacing can’t solve that. You need new cabinets in new positions. That’s a replacement conversation.
You're doing a full kitchen renovation anyway
If you’re already replacing countertops, moving plumbing, updating appliances, and reconfiguring the space — it often makes sense to replace cabinets as part of that larger project rather than reface and remodel around them.
Your cabinets are very old with outdated construction
Some older cabinet boxes simply weren’t built to modern standards. If the construction is poor, the materials are failing, or the interior functionality is beyond saving — starting fresh is the smarter long-term investment.
You want a completely different layout or size
Refacing works with what’s there. If you want taller cabinets, deeper cabinets, or cabinets in entirely different locations — replacement is the path forward.
